This lesson explains what SIBO breath testing can and cannot tell you, how motility and testing conditions can affect the results, and why a positive test should never be interpreted without symptoms and other clinical information. It reframes the result as one piece of a larger digestive and microbial picture.
Breath testing is most useful once foundations are stable and the broader gut picture is understood. It may help characterize a suspected overgrowth pattern, but it rarely determines the complete order of operations by itself. The greater priority is identifying why the overgrowth developed and which unresolved conditions could cause it to return.
